Mrs Bushway Virtual Educator

Welcome to my blog! My name is Melissa Bushway, and I am a middle school special education teacher at a fully synchronous virtual academy in Massachusetts. I teach English Language Arts and Math, supporting students through individualized instruction, progress monitoring, and technology-driven engagement.

I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology at the American College of Education, where my research focuses on how cell phone use impacts middle school students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) from educators’ perspectives. I am passionate about creating equitable, student-centered learning experiences that integrate technology, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and social-emotional growth.

When I am not teaching or studying, I love reading, crushing candy, and watching Law & Order: SVU. I also enjoy spending time with my family and cheering on my children at field hockey games. Through this blog, I hope to share insights, tools, and ideas that empower educators to connect technology with meaningful learning.
